Why is Healthy eating good for you?

Hi everybody today I will be telling you about healthy eating

If you eat a healthy diet you will reduce the risk of a number diseases including stroke , Heart disease, diabetes and some cancers. 

The best way to stay fit and healthy is to eat a diet high in fruit, vegtetables, whole grains and plant-based foods like beans and lentils,but low in fat, sugar and salt. 

Fruit and Vegetables 

Fruit and vegetables contain valuable vitamins, minerals, fibre and folate acid, which help to protect us from illness. They also contain substances called phytochemicals, which are antioxidants, antioxidants help to protect the body's cells from damage.

  • There are some vegetables and fruits that protect us particularly well against strokes because they have such high levels of antioxidants. The vegetables include cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli and Brussels sprouts. The fruits include blackcurrants, oranges, Kiwis, and red and yellow peppers.

  • The fibre found in fruit and vegetables plays an important role in preventing a stroke too. It also helps lower cholesterol and maintain a healthy digestive system.

  • Folate or folic acid is found in dark green vegetables like broccoli and spinach. this also helps to protect us against strokes.

  • Potassium is another essential mineral, like sodium, that we need to balance the fluids in our bodies. It is also important in keeping our heart rate normal and helps our nerves and muscles to function. It is found in bananas, avocados, citrus fruits and green leafy vegetables.
Ideally you should aim to eat at least five portions of fruit and vegetables a day, e.g. 1 apple, 1 banana , 2 plums , a heaped tablespoon of dried fruit like raisins (15g) or three broccoli or cauliflower florets.

How to segment a orange

Hi everyone today I will be telling you how to segment a orange, now you might ask what does segmenting does well it removes all of the bitter white pith, and you can also use this technique to segment too. Oranges are great in salads or desserts, or accompanied with rich meats such as duck.

The Things you will need are
 1 orange  1 sharp paring knife or a small knife.
Step 1-Using your sharp knife, carefully slice off the top and the bottom of the orange.

Step 2- using even downward strokes, slice the skin away from the flesh and get rid of all the rubbish.

Step 3- Next remove any remaining white pith that is left.

Step 4- Lastly cut between the membranes to segment the orange, retaining any juices
