Hi

I'm Glenn Manning And I'm 17 years old and this is a short story about me.

When I was at college in yr 9 I did food tech for a year in which I made all sorts of things such as Tiffin, Sausage rolls, and shepherds pie, and also bread rolls just to name a few. And I also had to do lots of coursework as well and I got a B in it too. Therefore this what has started my passion for cooking. Also I have now finished secondary school and I have now started studying Hospitality and catering NVQ L1 at college. I hope you enjoy reading my food blog.

How to make chips

Hi everybody today I will be telling you how to make chips or French fries as the Americans call them but the British call them chips, Chips or French fries are much loved by everyone around the world because there so yummy and can be made in lots of different ways like skinny chips or chunky chips, or even crinkly chips, or you can even have sweet potato chips there also quite easy to make.


Ingredients needed
potato's 400g saltStep 1-Prepare and wash the potatoes.

Step 2-Cut into slices 1 cm thick and 5cm long.

Step 3-Cut the slices into strips 5x1x1cm.

Step 4-Wash well and dry in a cloth.

Step 5- Cook in a frying basket without colour in moderately hot oil (165oC).

Step 6- Drain and place on kitchen paper on trays until required.

Step 7-When required, place in frying basket and cook in hot oil (185oC) until crisp and golden.

Step 8-Drain well, season lightly with salt and serve.

How to make a batter mix

hi everyone today I will be telling you how to make a basic batter mix, This basic batter recipe can be used for a whole variety of sweet and savoury dishes from pancakes and fritters to Yorkshire pudding and toad-in-the-hole. But To achieve a smooth lump-free batter it’s essential to slowly draw the flour into the liquid – if you beat everything together in one go some of the flour will remain in tiny lumps suspended in the batter







The ingredients you will need

100g plain flour1 large egg300ml milk Step 1-Sift the flour into a large mixing bowl and make a well in the centre.Drop the egg into the well and beat with a balloon whisk, gradually drawing some of the flour into the mixture. Step 2-Slowly pour in the milk, whisking all the time and continuing to draw in the flour until you have a smooth batter. It should be the consistency of single cream. Step 3-Cover the bowl and leave the batter to stand in a cool place for about 30 mins – this allows the starch grains in the flour to soften …

Ever wondered what chia seeds are? Well chia seeds come from a dessert plant called salvia hispanica, They are a member of the mint family. Its more common name is "chia", its believed to originate from central America where the seed was a staple in the Aztec diet. Chia seeds has gained attention as a great source of omega-3 fatty acid. They also contain protein and minerals which include iron, calcium, magnesium and zinc. Research shows that using chia seeds as part of a healthy diet may help improve cardiovascular risk factors such as lowering cholesterol and blood pressure.

Best way to eat Chia seeds
Chia seeds can be eaten raw or prepared in a variety of different dishes. Sprinkle ground or whole chia seeds on cereal, rice, yogurt or vegetables. Chia seeds are also very absorbent and develop a gelatinous texture when soaked in water making it easy to mix them into cooked cereal or other dishes.
