How to make cornish pasties

Hi everyone in todays post ill be telling you how to make some Cornish pasties

Cooks 4 portions 

First you will need to know how to make a short paste

Ingredients you will need
  • 200g flour(soft)
  • 1  pinch of salt
  • 50g vegetable fat
  • 50g butter or margarine
  • 2-3 tbsp water
Step 1-Sieve the flour and salt.

Step 2-Rub  in the fat to achieve a sandy texture.

Step 3-Make a well in the centre.

Step 4-Add sufficient water to make a fairly firm paste. 

Step 5-Handle as little and as lightly as possible

To make the Cornish pasties you will need
  • 200g of short paste
  • 100g potato (raw),finely diced
  • 100g raw beef,chuck or skirt, cut in thin pieces
  • 50g onion or leeks chopped
  • 50g swede (raw),finely diced (optional)
  • eggwash
Step 1-Roll out the short paste to 3mm thick and cut into rounds 12 cm in diameter .Quickly brown the meat in oil, drain and cook quickly.

Step 2-Mix the remaining ingredients together,moisten with a little water and place in the rounds in piles.Eggwash the edges.

Step 3-Fold in half and seal; flute the edge and brush with eggwash

Step 4-Cook in a moderate oven at 150-200oC for 1/2-1 hour.

Step 5 Serve with a suitable sauce, or hot or cold as a snack.

How to segment a orange

Hi everyone today I will be telling you how to segment a orange, now you might ask what does segmenting does well it removes all of the bitter white pith, and you can also use this technique to segment too. Oranges are great in salads or desserts, or accompanied with rich meats such as duck.

The Things you will need are
 1 orange  1 sharp paring knife or a small knife.
Step 1-Using your sharp knife, carefully slice off the top and the bottom of the orange.

Step 2- using even downward strokes, slice the skin away from the flesh and get rid of all the rubbish.

Step 3- Next remove any remaining white pith that is left.

Step 4- Lastly cut between the membranes to segment the orange, retaining any juices
