How to make a lemon drizzle cake

Hi everyone today ill be telling you how to make a lemon drizzle cake



Ingredients you will need

  • 125g unsalted butter-softened
  • 225g caster sugar
  • 4 eggs-beaten
  • finely grated zest of 1 lemon
  • 225g self-raising flour-sieved

For the drizzle topping
  • juice of 1 1/2 lemons
  • 85g caster sugar


Step 1-Preheat oven to 160C

Step 2-Cream together the butter and sugar until pale and light in colour.

Step 3-Gradually beat in the egg, beating thoroughly each time.

Step 4-Add the flour and lemon zest and fold in until the mixture is combined.

Step 5-Spoon into prepared tin and level the top.

Step 6-Bake for 45-50 minutes, until a thin skewer inserted in the centre comes out clean.

Step 7-Leave in the tin to cool.

Step 8-Mix together the juice of lemon and sugar for the topping.

Step 9-Lightly prick the warm cake with a skewer and pour over the drizzle topping.

Step 10-Leave in the tin until completely cool.
