Hi everyone today ill be telling you why protein is important
Protein is an essential part of all living things. Every day our bodies carry out millions of tasks (bodily functions) to stay alive. We need protein so that our bodies can grow and repair themselves.
There are two kinds of protein:
The lifespan of the cells in our bodies varies from a week to a few months .As the cells die they need to be replaced .We need protein for our cells to repair and for new ones to grow.
We also use protein for energy. Any protein that is not used up in repairing and growing cells is converted into carbohydrate or fat.
What is protein?
Protein is made up of chemicals known as amino acids. The protein in cheese is different from the protein in meat because the amino acids are different. Some amino acids are essential to the body, so they must be included in a balanced diet. Ideally our bodies need both animal and vegetable protein so that we get all the amino acids we need.
